Carriegame Heavenly spirit Born 6 June 2006 (yes the 6/6/06!) Optigen Clear by parentage Hip score 3:2 Elbow score 0 Click here to see her pedigree and more photos |
Smartie was born on the 6/6/06 in a litter of 6 dogs and she was the only bitch. She is living up to her name "Smartie" as she passed her Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award just after her first birthday. She is so willing to please it was easy! She has been in a couple of team displays which she seems to enjoy. At a local Agricultural college Open day she had a go at jumping around a course of jumps which she really enjoyed - see the photo's on her pedigree page. I hope to have a black and chocolate litter from Smartie in April 2009.

Lynquest Liberthine of Carriegame Born 28 March 07 Hips 6:4 Elbows 0 Optigen Clear by parentage Click here to see her pedigree and more photos |
Liberthine has certainly matured into a fine example of the breed, she is rarely out of the cards at championship shows and hardly ever out of the first 3 at open shows no mater what type or colour of the judges preference. She is such a fit girl, her favourite passtime it jumping for the young apples and pears on the trees, it's amazing how high she gets. It's when she gets out in the fields that she really loves it, she runs like the wind and it took me some time to build up confidence that she will come back as she runs so quick, but just one call and she turns on a sixpence and she comes back. She loves to retrieve especially out of water. When she was younger I was appoached by someone wanting to train a search dog, she would have loved it and I'm certain that she would have excelled but I just couldn't give her up, but as she matures I know that she would have loved this type of work.
I have no plans this year to have a litter from her I want to see how she continues in the show ring and at the moment I have my eye on the Naiken young dog Naiken Way Out West, to mate her in Feb/March 2010. He is a dog which I have liked since he was a minor puppy and think that they would compliment each other well.
I am delighted that at the Blackpool Championship show 27 June she won the large Post Graduate Bitch Class under Miss O Gore, so booking her place at next years Crufts.

After being away from the ring on whelping duties she delighted me with winning Best Bitch and reserve Best In Show at Northwest Labrador Club show 8 Feb 2009. I look forward to showing her and her half sister during 2009

Carriegame Lollipop Born 16 January 2001 Hip score 1:1 Elbow score 0 Optigen Tested Carrier Click here to see her pedigree and more photos |
Lollipop is very special, she is from the last litter I had from Lawnwood's Humbug at Carriegame who died due to complications after the bith of this litter. I had to hand rear the whole litter of 10 and I can't tell you how devastated I was at losing Humbug I may never have bred another litter, but decided that the only way to make sense of losing her this way was to promise to her memory to make sure that her name through this litter is in the pedigree of champions, which to date there are 3. Lollipop herself as done very well in the show ring qualifing for Cruft on 3 occasions and making the final Cut twice of these 3 visits. She also won 3rd place in a puppy stakes class of the enormous entry of 125! Not bad against all the stuning coats of some of the other breeds.
I have had 4 litters from Lollipop, from the first litter to Brigburn Sedge she produced the Icelandic Champion Carriegame Bridget, In Iceland they not only have to get the CC's but they have to win a field trail so this I'm very proud. The second litter was to the International Champion Ole this too produced the South African Champion Carriegame Paris of Dennegeur. The third litter to my Carriegame Ohemohmy produced the show winning bitches Carriegame Jingle Bells and Carriegame Cracker (yes they were born around Christmas - Christmas eve!) Jingle Bells has done well winning consistantly, qualifing and attending Crufts 2009 and even winning Reserve Best In Show at Northwest Labrador Club in February 09. Cracker is the first show dog of Kerry Burns and she is having great fun winning well at open shows even taking some group places. (Cracker has just been mated to Brigburn U'll Do, litter expected mid August). Ebony's final litter was to Naiken Suede, this produced a lovely litter but unfortunately they didn't make the size, but they are all excellent family pets.
In 2008 Lollipop had a terrible injury where she exploded some disc's in her back, this has left her very weak and somedays almost paralysed, it seems so unfair, all her other joints are good ( hips 1:1 elbows 0) she should have enjoyed a long and painfree life. I will continue to help make her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible, I know that one day I will have to make a heart breaking choice but hopefully it is a long way off.

Lynquest Kelowna of Carriegame Born 8 October 2001 Hip score 3:4 Elbow score 0 Optigen tested Clear of PRA Click here to see her pedigree and more photos |
Although unshown due to showing of the others Lynquest Kelowna of Carriegame has a very gentle temperament and is a valuable asset to the kennel. From the 2 litters which I have had from her both have produced offspring which are a credit to any kennel. From the first litter I kept the wonderful dog Carriegame Ohmeohmy he has won well in the show ring gaining his Stud book number as well as producing wonderful offspring him self many doing very well in the showring one Carriegame Bobby Dazzler (dam Carriegame Dazzle) is now a champion in South Africa many others have qualified for Crufts. But not only has he excellent breed type but he also has the excellent perfect hip and elbow score of 0:0 which some of his offspring also have. So through Ohmeohmy Kelowna is behind some very good show winners. The Second litter from Kelowna I kept a black bitch - Carriegame Heavenly Spirit - this litter was born on the 6-6-6 and would you believe there was 6 yes 6 black dog puppies and 1 black bitch! Fortunately for me the one black bitch was of excellent quality and she has won well in the show ring - even a BIS at the local! Both Ohmeohmy & Heavenly Spirit have passed their Good Citizen Gold Awards so not only good breed type and health has been passed down through her.

Lawnwood's Humbug at Carriegame Born 31 October 1995 Hip score 0:0 Elbow score 0 Click here to see her pedigree |
Humbug was bought from Mrs M Satterthwaite in 1995, and I could not have had a better start to my kennel. She had the then unheard of hip score of 0:0 and as very few had the elbows done at this time I had them done at a later date and was delighted when they also came back with a 0 grade. She did well in the show ring as she was my first show dog I mainly did open shows but she won well and won some Best of Breed awards and at the few championship shows which she did attend she came away with a some prize cards to her credit. I had 3 litters from Humbug the first was to Rusland Raphael, (an excellent dog who won his first CC then his owner died and he was never shown again - he was sure to have been made up if he had been carried on being shown.). From this litter I kept a beautiful black bitch Carriegame Shooting Star she did well in puppy classes and qualified for Crufts but unfortunately never got to Crufts as after swimming in a freezing river - she just ran in - she came out and ran across a field to warm up I called her and being obedient she turned quickly and dropped - she had ruptured both crucuiates, so that took her out of the show ring! (A lesson for us all about the dangers of allowing our dogs to swim in cold water, indead I don't allow my dogs even close to such cold water now unless on lead!). I was lucky in at the age of 12 months due to ill health of her owner another from this litter was returned to me Carriegame Comet, well what a show girl! She just had ring presence and I had such fun with her in the ring, her biggest win was the Novice stakes at the Birmingham National Championship show, this was my first win at a championship show and as everybody knows the stakes classes have quite some entries. Humbugs Second litter was to the Show Champion Trentwith Sir Winston, this was not as successful as her first litter in the show ring but they all made excellent family pets. Her third and tragically last litter was to Show Champion Naiken Kris, from this litter I kept my wonderful black bitch Carriegame Lollipop, she didn't have her mums 0:0 hips but I recon that 1:1 with 0 elbows isn't bad! Now this was the bitch which I did some winning with! She qualified and attended Crufts 3 times making the final cut twice but never just getting the place card. It is down this line where 3 champions have been bred, first South African Champion Carriegame Paris of Dennegeur (Int Ch Ole - Carriegame Lollipop) then Iceland Champion Carriegame Bridget (Brigburn Sedge - Carriegame Lollipop) and then the latest South African Champion Carriegame Bobby Dazzler of Dirnelia (Carriegame Ohmeohmy - Carriegame Dazzle she is a Lollipop daughter). Two of these Champions are Chocolate, which many know it is much more difficult to breed a chocolate champion than any of the other colours. Of course this list will get bigger! So as you can tell Humbug really was an excellent start and her name is present in the pedigree of top winning dogs all around the world. I must add that I had great help advice and encouragement from Mrs M Sattherwaite of the world famous LAWNWOOD kennel whom I've forever gratful for allowing me to have Humbug all those years ago.
